Central Interregional Artisans of Peru
CIAP (Central Interregional Artisans of Peru ) is a non-profit ,self managed association of artisan producer groups .It was founded in 1992.
Ciap’s mission is to promote the development of the artisans, their families and communities by marketing their products under better terms of trade. Its member groups have different craft specialities eg the wonderful array of hand painted ceramics ( including nativity sets ), the making of an interesting variety of musical instruments, unique jewellery items and hand knitted alpaca clothing. The artisans are located in various regions of Peru as well as marginalised districts of Lima
Objectives of CIAP
To defend and preserve the cultural identity of the Andes and the Amazon regions.
Promote the organization of artisans and the strengthening of existing ones.
Bring about improvement in the living conditions of the artisans, their families and communities.
To support the complete development of the communities where the associations are located.
